Out-of-this-world visitations!

The team at the Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom was delighted to welcome ESA astronaut, and University of Leeds Alumnus, Matthias Maurer during his visit to the Bragg Centre for Materials Research at the University of Leeds. Having spent an incredible 177 days in space, Matthias was perhaps the first visitor to think that our mandatory cleanroom gowning process was a bit light-touch! With his background in materials science, he was captivated by the complexity of the equipment and processes within the cleanroom, even joking that it was amazing to visit a place more intricate than the International Space Station.
