Royce Industrial Collaboration Programme funding

The University of Leeds has secured over £300,000 funding from round six of the Henry Royce Institute’s Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP), designed to support industry-led, academic engaged projects that address national advanced materials challenges.

In particular, the Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom is excited to commence our work with clean tech company, Infiniflux, as we investigate advanced cooling techniques to enhance the efficiency of semiconductor devices for next generation electronics.

Other partnerships within the Bragg Centre for Materials Research include:

  • Dr Yuvaraj Dhandapani from the School of Civil Engineering is leading one of the funded projects with industry partner, Arup. Dr Dhandapani and the team will examine carbonation resilience and dimensional stability of Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) concrete under changing climate conditions.
  • Professor Richard Barker is collaborating with the National Physics Laboratory and Spirit Energy on a project to develop a corrosion test method for impurity-containing gas-phase CO₂ pipelines.
  • This academic year also saw the culmination of a key ICP project funded in round five. Professor Ardian Morina, Dr Liuquan Yang, Dr Junfeng Yang, Dr Chun Wang from the University of Leeds partnered with colleagues from Cranfield University and Rolls-Royce to evaluate the wear performance of hydrogen barrier coatings in hydrogen-fuelled engines using Leeds' Advanced Coatings System and Environmental Tribology Facility.
